Roots Run Deep
a little about me

My name is Dylan Roop. I am a developer / designer / illustrator / musician / traveling salesman / stand up comedian / professional taste tester / 5-year-old. Okay, maybe only a few of those are true. I have been doing print design for 7 years and web design for 3 years. I love to make things and I love learning how to make new things. Life is full of hidden gems and I’m just hoping I see one of them. I have worked for a number of national touring acts on album art direction to merchandise design. I have also worked for a number of Colorado’s leading design agencies.

I was first introduced to design in the 7th grade by my art teacher. We had an assignment to design a fake album cover for a real band. I chose to design a blink-182 cover. The design was black with hot pink guitars that were on fire. Yeah, on fire. I was a pretty rock-and-roll 13 year old. It was the coolest thing that I had the ability to do whatever I could imagine with art and design. A few years have passed, I don’t do too many hot pink guitars anymore, but I try and stick to my roots and remember where I came from.

It’s always important to remind yourself where you came from and how you started. Art and design has been that reminder that life is meant to be beautiful and that it’s meant to be enjoyed doing things you love. Stick to your roots and stay humble.

Process

1. Analyze

Not all projects are alike. I don't just put each project through a machine and do the same steps for every client. We start with a clean slate every time. I see what you need and I decide if I'm able to be the right fit for you.

2. Plan

Once we figure out if we're going to be the right fit for each other then we plan your project. This is the scheduling process where I tell you when things will be done and when each part of the project is being worked on.

3. Design

This is the stage of the project where I create your work. Whether it's a website or an album design or even a pamphlet this is the time where all the magic happens. This is where we discover what your project will actually look like.

4. Develop

It all comes down to this ... In the final stages of the project I develop the piece. If that's a website then that means coding the site and getting it running on the web. If that's anything else it's a basic refining time where we package your project.

Skills

I’m really good at some things, and really bad at others. Here’s some things I am really good at and some things I try and stay away from.

I am always accepting new work and even when I’m not I am interested in hearing about your project.

Let's take this one step further

Starting your first project is pretty easy

Don’t worry, filling this out doesn’t sign you up for anything. It does help give me a good idea if I’ll be a good fit for you though.
